All of us have sinned...

“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3:10
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Romans 5:12

As the Bible has stated plainly, all of us are sinners. None of us have the righteousness necessary to receive salvation. We are all in the position of being unable to save ourselves.

Sin must be paid for...

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” I John 4:10

The payment for our sins is death and we all are facing that penalty. God is a holy God and, though He desires for us to be with Him eternally, He cannot tolerate sin in His presence. A payment had to be made to purchase our salvation. That payment was made by God in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ paid for our sins...

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Epesians 2:8, 9
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” Titus 3:5

Salvation is offered to all as a gift. It is not something that we can earn or we would could boast of ouraccomplishments. It is a free gift and all we have to do is to accept that gift as we turn from our sins and to the Saviour. He made the ultimate payment with His sinless life, making the payment with His blood.

What must you and I do to have salvation?

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13

As these verses tell us, we must believe the good news of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.  He died in our place, defeated death by raising from the dead, and provided the payment for the sins of all mankind. Call out to Him in prayer and receive this payment for your sins and accept God’s gift of salvation.

What is our assurance of going to heaven?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28

Everlasting life” means everlasting life. Once you have accepted God’s gift of salvation, you are assured of eternal life. As Christ said, no man can pluck us out of His hand.  We are His eternally!!

What am I supposed to do, now that I am saved?

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.” II Peter 3:18

God accepts us just as we are as we come to Him. Then, after we are saved, He desires that we grow in Him, that we glorify Him with our lives as He has purchased us with the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. We learn more about Him and grow in our knowledge of Him as we study His Word, the Bible. He desires that we live lives that are pleasing to Him as well as point others to Him as they see the difference in our lives.
